About
Lilian Nayantara Williams | Art Direction
A sojourner of experiences and stories - I was exposed to art at a very young age, having lived for several years in the teardrop-shaped island nation of Sri Lanka which has a long tradition of arts and crafts; influenced by multiple cultures and religions. Bearing witness to the hospitality sector - the aesthetics, the design of how the outdoors blended seamlessly with the indoors moved me to pursue a career in design.
A visual artist by profession - I started my career as an interior designer but I realised along the way that I enjoyed being on the communications side of things. My passion for graphic design stems from life experiences and frequent travels, and the design school (Srishti School of Art, Design, and Technology) that I went to after a History Honors degree (St Stephen's College). I see myself as a creative disruptor because I’ve had the opportunity to work in various fields such as PR and communications, non-profit, and the retail space. In these sectors, I’ve been able to interweave my knowledge of space design and visual design. I believe that good design has to be coupled with functionality to achieve a certain purpose.
Current hobbies include contemporary dance, gardening, attempting DIY art projects, and looking for my next favourite song.
